Eleven year old Roots & Shoots youth leader Jacob was recognized for his Bear Hugs project with the 2008 Governor's Volunteer Service Award in the youth category. Jacob received a standing ovation after his videorecorded interview about his project was shown at the awards ceremony. Jacob is pictured to the right with Cassandra A. Larsen, Director of the Governor's Office for Children, Youth & Families and Dan Gregory, Chair of the Governor's Commission on Service and Volunteerism.Jacob also received a Kohl's Kids Who Care award at both the store and regional levels. That means he has a $1,000 scholarship waiting for him when he enrolls in a full time college program! Congratulations, Jacob, and thanks for all you do!
